I DON'T KNOW WHY
by Michael Osmil
I don't know why,
When you whisper to me, it's as if an angel's melody.
So calm and graceful, like the voice of the sea.
Those first words I heard from you, spoken with the most gentle of tones.
I will never forget those words, because forgetting those words,
Is like forgetting your voice, forgetting that I ever heard such beauty.
I don't know why,
When you lay me in your arms, I feel so comfortable and safe,
Like the lush greenery of nature's overwhelming forests, that will never fade.
Your arms, so committed, they never stop until I fell into my peaceful sleep.
My first cradle, those arms were. There I was, snuggled in your arms.
I am thankful, to have been carried in your arms.
I don't know why,
Why your smile made me smile too, then you would smile even brighter,
Which for me, made the whole world a lot brighter.
And when we shared our first laugh together, doesn't it make you wonder,
How our bond, with just a single giggle, strengthened with the speed of thunder.
And even now when we laugh together, even if just often,
Our burdens ease, our problems fade and our hearts soften.
But now I know why,
Because you are my mother, and I am your son,
Forever.
